Through the constructive reduction to column and (ceiling) slab, modern architecture freed the wall from the burden of load-bearing and discovered its “detached” value for the development of the free floor plan and flowing space. At the same time, it robbed the column itself – dematerialized and embellished – of the talents it had accumulated over the millennia. The column is not only one of the basic structural elements of architecture, as a pillar or column it was and is a sign, symbol and carrier of meaning of spatial expression in architecture.

We give the column back its talents! With all aspects except the “support” itself: Spatial setting, form, proportion, ornament, material and color. In the setting of the Hornig Areal festival center, we will build our props ourselves on a scale of 1:1, position them in the space and let them have an effect on us in a concluding exhibition from May 18.
